Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt — India has reaffirmed its unwavering support for peace and stability in the Middle East, endorsing diplomatic efforts toward a two-State solution during the Gaza Peace Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh on October 13.
According to an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh attended the summit, which was co-hosted by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and joined by several world leaders.
The summit took place following a landmark ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all remaining hostages, marking a pivotal step toward regional reconciliation. It focused on consolidating peace efforts and establishing a sustainable framework for long-term stability under President Trump’s proposed Gaza Peace Plan.
In its statement, the MEA emphasized that India supports the peace plan and values the roles played by Egypt and Qatar in advancing dialogue and humanitarian recovery in the region. “India stands for peace in the Middle East and resolution of issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” the statement read.

On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh held a bilateral meeting with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, reaffirming India’s continued engagement with key regional partners.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh wrote:
“It was a privilege to meet His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt during the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh. Egypt and India share a vibrant strategic partnership. The summit underscored the global commitment to peace and dialogue. India reaffirms its unwavering dedication to peace, stability, and enduring security within the Middle East.”
Singh underscored that the gathering reflected “the global resolve to replace conflict with cooperation” and reiterated India’s long-standing support for a negotiated two-State solution between Israel and Palestine.
Global Leaders Endorse Peace Efforts
During the summit, President Donald Trump declared that “the war in Gaza is over,” expressing gratitude to the Arab and Muslim nations that facilitated the truce. “A new and beautiful day is rising, and now the rebuilding begins,” Trump said, noting that humanitarian aid was already flowing into Gaza.
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi thanked the United States, Qatar, and Türkiye for their mediation efforts and reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to ensuring a “political horizon” for implementing the two-State solution.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also called for renewed negotiations with Israel, suggesting that dialogue, similar to the 2022 maritime border agreement, could help resolve long-standing disputes. “The atmosphere in the Middle East now is one of deals and agreements,” Aoun remarked.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opted not to attend the summit, citing time constraints ahead of the Shemini Atzeret-Simchat Torah holiday.
India’s Continued Commitment to Peace
India’s participation at the Gaza Peace Summit reaffirms its consistent policy of supporting peace through dialogue, diplomacy, and multilateral engagement. By aligning with international efforts led by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, New Delhi reinforced its position as a responsible global actor advocating stability and cooperation in one of the world’s most sensitive regions.
